Job Title: Helpline Para-Counsellor
Job Description:
The NATIONAL ADDICTIONS MANAGEMENT SERVICE (NAMS) is the leading provider of treatment for problem gambling, substance abuse, and other addictive behaviours. A full time position as a Helpline Para-counsellor is available for qualified applicants who wish to be part of a fast growing mental health organization that offers excellent opportunities for training and professional development.
Successful applicants will be answering calls from the public and other healthcare professionals about problem gambling and other addictions. The Helpline Para-counsellor will assess each call to determine the caller’s needs, provide accurate information, counselling and support if required, and refer callers to appropriate services in the community. In addition, the Helpline Para-counsellor will work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided to enhance skills and knowledge.
The Requirements:
• Diploma in counselling, or other health related disciplines with counselling experience
• Motivated to help the public and passionate about helping people
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience
Working hours: 8.30am to 6pm or 12.30pm to 10pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Job Title: Counsellor
Job Description:
Provide counseling support to GEP pupils in 3 to 4 selected GEP centres (primary schools):
· Obtain cases from school in-house counselors
· Carry out administrative duties required on cases management
· Attend session with individual pupil; conduct case assessment; collate relevant information; listen to and respond/advise counsellees; provide resources; follow up on cases and make further recommendations or suggestions for follow-up
· Record case details into case files
· Make recommendations to and advise IHCs, HoDs on cases attended to at level meetings
· Attend case conferencing sessions with Branch Counsellors
· Update ADs on cases that need close monitoring or urgent interventions
Job Duration: Estimated period of 1.5 days per week from January to October 2012, about 33 weeks.
