80% of our sensational input is acquired through our eyes where we can see the world, avoid danger and enjoy life. Our eyes are a very delicate organ consisting of millions of nerves and a complicated optical system that allows us to see the world around us. Even with the latest technology, the important functions of our eyes are irreplaceable. The talk will address the common problems like Cataract, Glaucoma as well as Refractive problems such as Myopia, Astigmatism and Presbyopia. Other eye diseases like Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-related Maculopathy and Retinal Detachment will also be discussed. In addition, the audience will receive sound advice on simple self-testing techniques to detect symptons relating to these diseases.
